Dear Friend,
Do you ever find yourself so oppressed or discouraged that it is difficult to listen to – let alone receive – God’s promises? If so, you are in good company! In Exodus 6, God speaks to Moses and tells him some truly miraculous things:
- He has heard the groaning of the Israelites, who were enslaved by the Egyptians.
- He will free the Israelites from the yoke of the Egyptians.
- He will bring the Israelites to the Promised Land!
While this should have been truly incredible news for the oppressed Israelites, the next verse reads like a chapter from many of our own lives:
“Moses reported this to the Israelites, but they did not listen to him because of their discouragement and cruel bondage.”
Exodus 6:9
Fortunately, the Israelites’ story does not stop with their inability to hear! God went above and beyond to show them He was serious, effectively healing hearts too burdened to move.
If you find yourself in the shoes of the Israelites today, can I encourage you to do one thing? Just keep your eyes open! Be on the lookout for God’s movement in your midst! Just as He heard the groaning of the Israelites, He has heard your groaning too. And just as He fulfilled His promises to the Israelites, He will work all things to your good. He will rescue you!
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to His purpose.”
Romans 8:28
Just wait and see!
