Do you sometimes feel like the devil tries to “eat your lunch” before you even get to breakfast?
Your child wakes up at 4 AM, your spouse doesn’t hear the alarm, you forget to send that important note or project to school, you can’t find your keys, you forgot your cell phone, you check your email before getting out of bed and there is a zinger in there . . .
And it’s entirely possible all this happens on the same morning!
If this sounds like your life (and it is certainly mine!), can I offer some advice?
First, recognize that you actually do have an enemy . . . not some mythical cartoon character, and he really is out to steal your joy! In John 10:10, the Bible describes him as a thief who comes “to steal, kill and destroy.” So – your bad morning isn’t all about you and your shortcomings.
Second, recognize that you have an ally . . . a God stronger than the havoc-wrecker, a God who has good plans for you TODAY, a God who made this day that you “may rejoice in it and be glad in it.” (Psalm 118:24).
Third, consider the possibility that your mornings are a spiritual battleground, and pray for protection over them. Don’t quite believe in the power of prayer? Try it anyway. One of the enemy’s tools is to convince you that prayer doesn’t work and won’t help. But how do you know unless you submit to it?
If you have any real experience fighting this battle, let me know in the comments. We’d all love the encouragement!
In His Name,
Lamentations 3:22-23: “The Lord’s lovingkindnesses indeed never cease, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.”
